University Computer Software Assessment

Purchasing a new computer? The University Computer Software Assessment provides essential software and services throughout the university for faculty, staff and students. Fees collected each fiscal year are used to cover the costs of software and service agreements with Microsoft, Adobe, and others. This rate is reviewed annually along with the cost of software and services.

Overview

  • By centralizing the acquisition and management of software and services the university saves money and helps ensure that modern applications are available to all, and the university is compliant with various licensing requirements and regulations.
  • Some of the applications and services provided are M365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, etc.) and Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, Premiere, etc.).
  • This licensing model helps ensure that the university’s computers and data are protected through the availability of modern computer operating systems and cybersecurity tools.

Requirements

  • All university computers, regardless of the procurement method will be assessed.
  • Special exemptions may be considered, when related to unique use cases and iPad, Chromebook or Android tablets. Please contact its-softwarelicensing@fsu.edu for more information.
