Level Up with Google for Education
FSU Information Technology Services recently launched Google for Education. This platform gives students, faculty and staff access to Google Workspace tools through their FSU single sign-on. This includes familiar apps like Docs, Sheets and Slides, as well as newer innovations like Google Gemini, an AI-powered assistant built to boost academic and professional efficiency.
One of the most critical aspects of Google for Education is its data security capabilities. When working with sensitive data, it’s crucial for the information to be protected. Thus, FSU has an agreement with Google to protect data within Gemini, NotebookLM, Drive (5GB), Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms. Users should exercise caution when using these services for university-related work, as they do not benefit from the same level of data security and privacy protection.
Another exciting feature of Google for Education is its integration capabilities. For faculty and staff, the platform streamlines communication and file management, supporting a more connected and productive work environment.
Looking ahead, ITS plans to expand training and support resources to help the campus community get the most out of the platform. Whether it’s organizing group work, hosting a virtual class session or using Gemini to brainstorm your next big idea, Google for Education is here to make it faster and smarter.
Ultimately, with Google for Education, FSU ITS is excited to expand and empower FSU’s community.
