COOP Emergency Management

Continuity of Operations (COOP) establishes the minimum risk management requirements for assets including personnel, facilities, equipment, networks, information and infrastructure. The COOP application creates a standardized COOP template which has been developed by FSU Emergency Management. This application provides a structure for formulating a COOP plan to coordinate restoring vital services after a disaster. COOP planning is part of the fundamental mission of the university as a responsible and reliable public institution.

Each university unit's plan documents how that unit will perform essential functions during a disruption to return to normal operations. This planning focuses on damages to infrastructure, reduction in workforce, equipment failure, utility outage, relocation and essential functions. While it is impossible to cover all contingencies, a strategic plan can guide decision making and lead to positive outcomes and a reduction in response time.

FSU FSU Emergency Management maintains a repository of all university unit’s COOPs through this application. Each university unit is required to review and update their COOP annually and the plan must be approved by April 1 every year. As of June 2021, all university units are in compliance with 4-OP-E-10 Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) policy and have completed their plans.
