Say hello to the new ITS values

Tuesday 03/29/2022

ITS is the central hub for anything and everything technology-related at FSU. There is an IT service for everyone, whether it be the wireless network students use to attend remote classes or the application professors use to post their grades. These services are provided by over 400 employees distributed all over campus. With a staff of this size, it is unsurprising to find a variety of employee skills and interests, ranging from marketing and communications to networking or application development. Despite different career paths, the ITS community is bonded by our mission to “Make IT easier for students, faculty and staff who learn, teach, conduct research and work at Florida State University.”

With that in mind, ITS is ready to announce the debut of our values. The values represent our aspirations to be:

  • Transformative | Our work fuels the university’s aspiring goals through forward-thinking innovation
  • Trustworthy | Unwavering integrity and transparent conversations manifest lasting relationships
  • Inclusive | Equal accessibility and open dialogue create a welcoming atmosphere for all
  • Collaborative | Active and responsive partnerships contribute to service-minded solutions
  • Empowering | Solutions through our technology and expertise solve tomorrow’s challenges

The goal of the values is to further our mission statement with the values that inspire employee action and provide purpose and direction for ITS work. “By adopting these values, we can clearly articulate what ITS aspires to be as an organization. Each member of our team can align the work we do with these values and strive to work together towards a common goal, regardless of what project. As we live our values, these words can be evident through our actions with each other and throughout our community,” explains Rebekah Dorn, director of Change, Leadership and Planning for ITS.

Although it will not happen all at once, the implementation of the values will bring an exciting change to the ITS community.
