May Things to Know: Summer Tech Tips
With summer break in full swing, it’s important to keep your technology safe and accessible. Whether you're traveling, learning or relaxing, cyber safety is a must. From storing your files to staying connected, here are a few key tips to keep in mind this summer.
Back Up Your Files
Backing up your files is one of the easiest ways to avoid losing important information. If your device is lost, damaged or stolen, having your work saved in the Cloud ensures you can still access it. FSU students have free access to OneDrive and Google Drive, both of which are secure cloud storage options that allow you to keep your files safe and organized.
Share Your Location with a Trusted Contact
If you’re traveling alone or going somewhere new, consider sharing your location with someone you trust. It’s a simple safety precaution that can provide peace of mind when you’re on the move.
myFSUVLab Access
Enrolled in summer classes? The myFSUVLab allows you to access campus software remotely from your personal device. There’s no need to install programs—just log in and get to work from anywhere with internet access.
ITS Service Desk is Open During Summer
Even during the break, the ITS Service Desk is here to help. The Service Desk can help you log into your FSU account, troubleshoot software and resolve your Wi-Fi troubles.
Graduating? Save Your Files
If you're graduating this semester, remember that your FSU email and password will remain active for one year after graduation. This enables you to back up files, transfer contacts and update your accounts.
These are just a few ways to make sure your summer goes smoothly when it comes to technology. Staying proactive now can help you avoid tech issues later. For more tips or help, visit its.fsu.edu.
