A comprehensive assessment and analysis of existing IAM systems to pave the way for an improved solution for FSU.
Since the Spring of 2024, Information Technology Services (ITS) has been conducting a comprehensive assessment and analysis of existing university and ITS identity and access management (IAM) systems, policies and associated business processes. The objective of this was to create a roadmap for a more modern and scalable IAM solution aligning with our goal to advance FSU’s cloud strategy and establish identity-first security.
As the final third stage of this project commences with the Spring 2026 semester, ITS is preparing to implement solutions to provide an efficient and consistent user experience for students, faculty, staff and other FSU users.
What is changing?
The current IAM frameworks that manage digital identities are being rebuilt to ensure FSU users experience the most effective experience. These frameworks control who can access specific resources, ensuring the right users have the right access at the right time, while preventing unauthorized access and breaches. The framework operates by verifying identities and granting appropriate permissions throughout a user's lifecycle. This will be anyone with an active FSUID.
Why is it changing?
New IAM solutions will align IAM goals to business goals and outcomes. By focusing on identity-first security, FSU and users will benefit from increased security and compliance. With improved tracking and management of user lifecycles, users will experience a more productive, collaborative and improved experience.
