April Things to Know: AI at FSU

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more prevalent throughout the world, FSU has taken steps to ensure that the university is equipped with ways for students, staff and faculty to access these AI tools safely and securely. AI is a great tool to use for brainstorming ideas, data analysis and aiding with school assignments or work.  With that in mind, here are some things you should know about AI on FSU’s campus.  

Microsoft Copilot for the Web

Microsoft Copilot for the web enables students and faculty to have secure access to generative AI resources. This tool can aid with creating content, proofreading and editing and data analysis.  

AI @ FSU 

FSU’s designated AI site contains information about AI on FSU’s campus and how the FSU community can access it. This site serves as the main hub for AI-related information and contains relevant AI news, tools for students and faculty and updated policies and guidelines regarding AI. 

MeetKai

In partnership with technology company, MeetKai, FSU’s College of Social Work is utilizing new AI tools to support educational and career development. This advancement involves a virtual training solution that enhances learning opportunities for students studying child welfare and social work. This serves as a great example of a way that FSU helps students gain practical skills and real-world experience with the help of AI tools. 

Always Read the Agreements.

Although AI is becoming more prevalent on FSU’s campus, it is crucial to make sure to read the agreements to ensure you understand the privacy policies and terms and conditions.  

Never Directly Copy from an AI Source. 

Using generative AI can be a great tool to help with idea generation, image synthesis and improving existing work. It is important to not directly copy from an AI source. Copying directly can be considered plagiarism and conflicts with FSU’s policies and guidelines about using AI. AI should be used as a tool to aid in creating an improving content but should not be used to replace original work.  

These are critical things you should know about how to access and use AI on FSU’s campus. As AI is becoming more useful, it is important for everyone to have all necessary information to be able to utilize this significant tool safely and securely.
