As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the security of Florida State University's digital infrastructure, Information Technology Services is introducing a new annual cybersecurity awareness training program. This training is mandatory for all FSU employees and must be completed by October 15, 2025.
What is Happening?
Florida State University has introduced a mandatory cybersecurity awareness training program for all university employees, as required by the 4-OP-H-25.06 IT Security and Privacy Training Standard. This training will help you learn how to identify, prevent and respond to common cyberthreats, such as phishing, malware, ransomware and identity theft.
Why the Change?
With the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks, each of us must do our part to keep FSU safe. All employees must be aware of best practices for safeguarding our digital assets. This training is designed to equip faculty and staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect sensitive information and identify and prevent cyberthreats.
What to Do
All current FSU employees must complete the training by Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

Who needs to complete cybersecurity awareness training?
All employees (A&P, Faculty, OPS, USPS and student employees) must complete the training.
How often do I need to complete cybersecurity awareness training?
Training must be completed on an annual basis.
How long does it take to complete cybersecurity awareness training?
The training should take about 15 minutes to complete.
What topics are covered in cybersecurity awareness training?
This training covers the identification and prevention of, and the proper response to, the following:
- Phishing
- Malware
- Ransomware
- Identity Theft
Why do I need to take cybersecurity awareness training?
Identifying, preventing and responding to common cyberthreats is a key part of creating a safe, secure campus. Even if you do not handle sensitive data, bad actors can leverage your credentials to access other information across the network. Additionally, all employees are required to complete annual cybersecurity awareness training, as required by the 4-OP-H-25.06 IT Security and Privacy Training Standard.
