Outside of work, she enjoys DIY projects, gaming, and spending time with her beloved cat, Olive.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Where did you attend school?
I am a proud almost 3x alum of Florida State. I earned my bachelor’s degree in information, communication and technology, and my master’s degree in media communications studies with a certificate in project management. Currently, I am pursuing a specialist degree in information with a focus on web design which I will be done with in Spring 2025.
Why did you choose to work in technology?
As you will hear often, I actually fell into technology during my undergrad. I didn’t get into the advertising program, so I pivoted to ICT which felt like the next best option for me. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it set me on this path. When I saw a position in marketing for ITS, it felt like the perfect blend of combining what I learned in the IT program with my passion for communications. It allowed me to act as a translator between the FSU community and ITS.
How long have you been at FSU?
I have been at FSU for over 8 years. I started as a student at FSU in the summer of 2016, and began working for the university in 2017 as a resident assistant and receptionist. Then, right after graduation I worked for the University Business Administrators before moving into my current position with ITS in 2021.
What is your role at FSU?
I am the marketing coordinator on the integrated communications team. My role changes from day-to-day, but it's a highly creative and exciting role. Some days, I focus on project communications, which involves writing emails and news articles, planning on campus tables and overall promoting various projects and initiatives. Other days, I'm building our brand by managing social media, creating videos, taking photos and helping plan on campus events. I also supervise our group of marketing interns who help with these projects as well.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
One of my favorite parts of my job is the opportunity to be creative about something I’m passionate about. Prior to this job, I didn’t know a lot about the technology field, but through my job I have learned a lot more about it and get to be a part of some very innovative projects. The tech industry is changing rapidly, and I get to share this knowledge with the FSU community.
What is the most rewarding project you have worked on at FSU?
When I joined FSU, we were in the middle of the CyberSafe initiative, and I had the opportunity to see my manager, Megan Del Debbio, lead this campaign. So, once I took over the cybersecurity campaign the next year, I had the chance to partner with ISPO for the CyberBowl. CyberBowl was the first major campaign I got to lead which was extremely exciting and has become something I am passionate about every year. It’s been fun to grow the campaign further—not just within FSU, but also by involving other schools. Through this, I’ve had the chance to connect with marketing specialists from other institutions and collaborate on expanding these important initiatives.
What is your favorite app?
While I love a variety of different apps, I am really big into gaming. I have a lot of different games on my phone that I play when I have free time. Though, as expected by my job, I am also big into social media. The app I spend the most time on is Instagram because I love watching and sending cat reels and funny memes to my friends. I also just love using it to stay connected to old friends I don’t see as much.
If you were to invent one piece of technology, what would it be.
Smart contacts. They’d be like smart glasses, but even more accurate and would show me text messages, take photos and videos, and even be able to translate different languages for me.
What is a fun fact about you?
Something you may not know about me is that I was a member of the Marching Chiefs color guard team at FSU. The College of Music was like my second home, and when it wasn’t color guard season, I was playing the flute in the campus band are assisting around the College of Music as a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi.
Talk a little bit about your family.
I am a 3rd generation alum of FSU. My grandparents, mom, uncle, and sister all went to FSU, so we really do bleed garnet and gold. While we all grew up in Florida, we’re also a big Italian family who love spending time together. I also have a cat black cat named Olive who is my pride and joy and hope to get another fur baby this coming year!
What do you do in your free time?
In my very limited free time, I love spending time with Olive, playing Fortnite and working on various DIY projects around my house.
