Preparing for Fall Finals Week
To help students prepare for fall finals, the ITS Office of Digital Learning and Academic Technologies (ODL) is expanding seating capacity for testing and offering extended Testing Center hours to the more than 12,000 students who have registered for course exams. For both students and instructors, the ODL Technical Support team will extend hours to allow for post-finals assistance. The expanded seating and extra tech hours are designed to ensure everyone has the support they need for a seamless testing experience.
Extended Testing Center Hours
For finals, the FSU Testing Center will be open Saturday and Sunday (12/7-8) from 10am to 5pm and Monday through Friday (12/9-13) from 8am to 8pm. The extended hours will ensure that testers can complete their exams in a timely manner.
Record Number of Testers
During finals week, the Testing Center is expected to seat 12,672 students for proctored, in-person exams. The most students are expected on Friday, with 2,279 registered, and the daily average is 2,206. This is the largest number of finals week testers since the Testing Center reopened in Fall 2023.
Additional Testing Space
To seat the record number of students, the Testing Center will provide overflow testing in nearby Miller Hall. This expansion allows for 262 seats per day on Saturday (12/7) and Sunday (12/8) and 352 seats per day Monday through Friday (12/9-13).
Finals Week Collaboration
Graduate assistants from the colleges of Business and Arts & Sciences are scheduled to help ODL testing staff with proctoring during finals, and we are grateful for their support. To provide students with a quiet testing environment, ODL is working with FSU administration to issue a noise ordinance around the stadium during finals week. We are also collaborating with Parking & Transportation to expand the loading zones in front of University Center C, a service provided for instructors dropping off and picking up their scanning jobs.
OAS Testing Stations
ODL’s Systems Administration team will be assisting the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) for finals week by providing and setting up 30 additional testing stations within the OAS office. OAS provides testing for students with registered accommodations.
Extended Help Desk Hours
ODL’s Technical Support team will be offering extended help desk hours during and after finals. The post-finals extension will benefit faculty who may need help with grade submission before the December 17 deadline. Hours are as follows:
· Thursday-Friday, 12/12-13: 8am-7pm
· Saturday, 12/14: 10am-2pm
· Sunday, 12/15: 12-4pm
