Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware Software Management Service

Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP)

Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) is an enterprise anti-virus and anti-malware solution provided by ITS for FSU-owned Windows machines on campus. SCEP provides daily definition updates and real-time protection from viruses and malware as well as quick and full scans to maintain the security of FSU computers.

  • Departments

To maintain the security of FSU computers, SCEP provides:

  • Daily definition updates
  • Real-time protection from viruses and malware
  • Quick and full scans
  • Windows operating system with Configuration Management client installed and a member of the FSU Domain.

There is no charge for this service.

Computers running the Windows Operating System and joined to the FSU Domain can have SCEP automatically installed through a group policy.

For units that have computers that are not on the FSU Domain, the following options are available:

  • SCEP can be manually installed as an unmanaged client, however, support is limited in this scenario.
  • Your unit can acquire another antivirus product. The cost per computer will vary depending on the vendor. It is important that any products acquired represent a managed, enterprise solution. Free or low cost unmanaged solutions present an unacceptable security risk to the University.
