Authentication Services

Florida State University offers several authentication and single-sign-on services for accessing university systems and third-party applications. These services enable users to sign in to password-protected systems using their FSUID or FSU Active Directory credentials and password. This sign in method provides added security and convenience for users.

  • Single-sign-on (SSO) allows users to sign in once and access multiple FSU applications

Requirements

Websites and applications must support SSL, one of the following protocols (ADFS, CAS 1.0, 2.0, 3.0; SAML2; OpenID Connect; REST) and/or an ADFS or CAS client.

Cost

There is no charge for this service.

A Data Access Request (see the appropriate form below) must be completed and will be routed for approval as needed to HR, Registrar and/or ISPO.

Additional Information

Four different authentication services are available at FSU.

  • CAS – single-sign-on system used by most FSU web applications
  • CAS SAML - single sign-on system using SAML 2.0 protocol
  • ADFS – single sign-on system integrated with FSU Active Directory domain services
  • LDAP – system enabling applications to authenticate against Oracle Unified Directory (LDAP)
