As part of the One O365 project to combine student and employee email accounts in one system, FSU is making changes to university preferred email settings. This helps ensure important university emails are being delivered to a valid email account.

What is changing?
- Preferred to primary | Your FSU official email address will be titled “primary” instead of “preferred”; preferred will no longer be an active label
- Automatic hierarchy | You will no longer be able to change your primary email address on file
- FSU email clean up | Personal email addresses will no longer be accepted for FSU type email addresses
- Personal email clean up | FSU email addresses will no longer be accepted for personal email addresses; if you currently have an FSU email listed as your personal email, that email will be removed and you can add a non-FSU personal email address
What do I need to do?
You do not need to take any action. All changes to primary email addresses will be made automatically.
Note that this will not change the from address on your outgoing email messages (also known as your primary SMTP email address).

What is my primary email?
Your primary email is the email address where official university communications are sent. Your primary email is set automatically based on your relationship to the university. If you are a student, employee or retiree, your primary email address is your FSU official email address (FSUID@fsu.edu). If you are an alumni, inactive student, former employee, delegate or guest, your primary email address is your personal email address.
How do I update my email in the FSU faculty and staff directory?
Current employees may have an FSU alias email address appear in the FSU Faculty and Staff Directory that is different than their FSUID@fsu.edu email address. Doing so will update your email address listed in the directory only and does not change your official FSU email address where university communications are sent. Follow these steps to update your email in the FSU Faculty and Staff Directory.
How do I update my personal email address?
You can add a personal email address to your FSU account at any time. Follow the instructions online to update your personal email address based on your relation to FSU.
