New patch management service makes updates faster and easier
Software, web browsers and other third-party apps account for 86% of cybersecurity vulnerabilities (National Vulnerability Database). To keep your computer and university data safer, these apps constantly need security updates, or patches. But patch management doesn’t have to be a full-time job. Information Technology Services offers a way to make updating third-party apps easier, more efficient and more secure. A centralized, automated service ensures security updates are installed quickly and reliably on university-owned computers. Essentially, rather than 100 people in 100 departments each updating their unit's computers, one system can handle updates for all of campus. Updates are available for popular academic software and even the most attack-prone apps—including Adobe, Firefox, Java and Chrome. Third-party patch management is available as part of ITS patch management services, as a monthly subscription for PCs.
