ITS launches new campus voicemail platform
Information Technology Services is pleased to announce the replacement of the current (Legacy) Tallahassee main campus voicemail system. On the morning of September 24, 2012, all existing voicemail boxes will be recreated in the new voicemail platform. This change will address the antiquated state of FSU's voicemail system, and will allow for future enhancements offering state-of-the-art telecommunications services. This does not affect users' mailboxes who have already converted to Voice over IP (VoIP) lines. More information can be found at http://www.its.fsu.edu/Voicemail/Whats-New.
Key features of the new system are:
- All voicemail boxes now have a 20 minute mailbox capacity with a 5 minute greeting.
- The mailbox limit is now based on total minutes used for messages and not how many messages you have.
- The new voicemail platform will allow for future enhancements that are not possible on our existing system.
Starting on September 17, 2012, all users with voicemail boxes will need to record new greetings and perform the first time setup. Please note that the menu navigation will change. Users will need to record their name and a new personal greeting if they prefer a personalized message. "Navigation Menu" and "First time setup" instructions can be found at http://its.fsu.edu/voicemail. The initial passcode for accessing the new mailbox, which is 6245, must be changed the first time you access your mailbox.
Due to the limitations of the current system, there is no way to move existing voicemail messages to the new platform. The current (Legacy) system will remain accessible for 30 days, and voicemails stored there will expire after the standard 4 day retention period. To continue to access your mailbox during this timeframe, you will need to dial 645-9950, and log in with the passcode you use today.
